WASHINGTON, DC – House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) released the following statement in response to President Obama's appearance on Meet the Press this morning.
"Americans elected President Obama to lead, not cast blame. The president's comments today are ironic, as a recurring theme of our negotiations was his unwillingness to agree to anything that would require him to stand up to his own party. Needed cuts and reforms that the president agreed to just last year were no longer on the table, as he cited an inability to sell them to Democrats.
"In an effort to get the president to agree to cut spending -- which is the problem -- I put revenues on the table last year, and I put them on the table again last month. Republicans made every effort to reach the 'balanced' deficit agreement that the president promised the American people, while the president has continued to insist on a package skewed dramatically in favor of higher taxes that would destroy jobs. We've been reasonable and responsible. The president is the one who has never been able to get to 'yes.'
"The House has passed legislation to avert the entire fiscal cliff, and the president has never called for the Senate to act on those bills in any way. He instead has simply allowed the Democratic-controlled Senate to sit on them and lead our economy to the edge of the fiscal cliff. I am pleased Senators from both parties are currently working to find a bipartisan solution that can finally pass that chamber. That is the type of leadership America needs, not what they saw from the president this morning."

What is not understood, is that we, as in all of us, have a spending problem, not a revenue problem. No one believes that higher taxes even on all of us can meet the runaway spending. We cannot continue to blow through an extra trillion dollars a year and not understand that Greece is our future. Besides the rich already pay 90% of the income taxes as it is. Where is everyone else's "fair share"?

The democrats continue to demonstrate that they could care less about the deficit. They think by taxing the rich it will solve all of our problems when this will only fund the government for 7 days...The only thing the democrats are willing to cut is the defense budget. Nice try but if you owned your own business (and it was successful) you would now basic economic that when you buy something for resell it has already paid, manufacturing taxes, delivery taxes, road use taxes, etc before you buy it all those taxes are included in the price you pay then you add your overhead to make your profit. IF you owned your own business you would know that. However that said IF your business happend to be a Marijuana Dispensary no business experience is needed.
He doesn't mention the programs he wants to cut with his G.O.P. friends. He doesn't tell you how many older people will be out on the street when they mess with SS and retirement. You can blame it on the republicans but in the end you will find out where the blame lies. If the president was really serious about taxing the rich he WOULD work on tax reform. Anyone who has ever taken an econ class knows this is the only way it will work. Yet he refuses to do that and asks for more taxes. You can increase taxes on the wealthy but they will only use the very tax loop holes that Obama and his admin fail to fix. He cannot afford his healthcare plan and he needs additional revenue. Spending like there is no end to the money has ruined our country's creditability. He owns this economy with all the massive government spending. What you don't understand is taking away some deductions doesn't raise enough revenue. You have to do both. And his health care plan will save money in the long term. We cannot keep spending 16% of our GDP on health care. And have 40 million people not paying anything. Time for you to wake up and stop listening to the Republican right.

The resolution to the fiscal cliff is a joke! If you really want more tax revenue you must first have more tax payers. This is not rocket science, it is basic economics. Taxing the rich...the revenue from that alone was spent 2 years ago. It is symbolism over substance...a feel good move only but not a solution.

We protect the interest of big corps and the rich people who own and run them. And who do we send to do the heavy lifting? The sons and daughters of the lower and middle class. 98% of the small business will not be effected by the tax increase, because they don't make more then $250,000. That's another false reason spread by the GOP to save the rich from paying their fair share. The tax rates during Clinton's years produced a surplus and 24 million new jobs. Bush's lower tax rates produced 5 trillion in debt, and 3 million new jobs. Do the math?!
Why stop there? Hello, France raised it to 65%...how is that working out. If you take money out of the economy through higher taxes how can you get more tax revenue when there will be even fewer tax payers. This tax increase was spent years ago! Symbolism over substance.

There was a news story over the weekend about Washington state employers grousing about the minimum wage going up 15 cents an hour and how they were going to have to cut workers. Give me a break! Job creators my @$$.
Actually, I believe that would be a direct example of what they were talking about. If you reduce the burdens on them, they can hire more people. If you increase the burdens, it will lead to more job losses.
So what you just said is actually what we call a negative proof. Or proof by inversion. You show what happens when something is removed and it shows the opposite of what happens when it is added.
So take money out of their pockets and jobs shrink. Add money to it and jobs or wages or both should grow. Not sure how many examples you'd need to see that are as obvious as this.

Boehner keeps stating how the House(Republicans) have put a fiscal plan on the table. Then he says he wants the President to name where the cuts will be in programs. Now lets get this straight. The Republican's want President Obama to agree to all their cuts on the 98% of Americans, not follow through on his promise to raise taxes on the very wealthy, then tell America it was what he (Obama) wanted, and take the blame for the Republicans cold & greedy hearts. Nice try Mr. Boehner but with the exception of the shrinking group of voters FOX News & Rush Limbaugh control you lose again! Two things.
1st do a simple search on "how are US taxes broken out by group" and you will find that 85% of all the taxes collected come from the top 25% of wage earners. Simple fact easy to check.
2nd the problem is political parties. Both are using taxpayer money to buy votes to stay elected. However now there are more votes to buy than revenue collected. No one wants to tell their voters there is no money for next election.
