How on earth could one have voted for President Obama when he allowed four Americans to die at the Libyan Embassy and then does a cover up so that he could win the election?
Wow, John Harrison, you must be completely distraught over the cocaine for arms for hostages thing that Reagan did, or the war that Bush Junior did that caused the deaths of thousands of Americans, the war against the wrong folks is the one I mean. Those are real scandals, my friend, not some made up propaganda piece manufactured by Rupert Murdock and the GOP boys in Congress.
Seriously. Tens of thousands of people were killed and injured under President Bush, who statred a war on a totally false premise = LIE and you want to talk about 4 people? It's time we started looking at the bigger picture and not just the small mindedness of a few in this country!
a comparable example is the death of 250+ marines in Lebanon, in 1982. No one ever said Reagan was unqualified to be re-elected even though in hindsight it was obviously a poor decision to have that many marines there without a clearly defined mission.
In terms of cover-ups, no one has shown there was one on Benghazi but there was one for sure during Iran-Contra - just check with Oliver North, whose job it was
My take is that for the extremist white it is not a crime when a white man is responsible for the death of 250 marines in Lebanon in 1982 or cover up in the Iran-Contra, but it is a serious offense to the extreme white when 4 Americans died in Bengahzi, under the administration of a black president. What does that tell you?
Congress voted down more funding for security. The family of one of the fallen requested that their deaths not be made a political talking point. Some people in the state department accepted responsibility for lack of security after Secretary of State Clinton and President Obama demanded a full investigation. Ambassado Stevens did a great job and was liked by the Libyan people. He knew what he was doing and why he was there. Honor him, and them, instead of making them martyrs to your political paranoia. And, yeah, above posters: Iraq, Iran/Contra, Lebanon, and invasion of Grenada.
To be clear, the President didn't "allow" this to happen. It happened. The Middle East changes minute by minute. Yes, we know now that there could have been tighter security, but when you need the authorization of a republican-run Congress to write a billion dollar check for that kind of protection, you make do with what you are or are not given. And good for now defunct VP hopeful Congressman Paul Ryan for voting against larger fund for that exact protecting... well before this incident was even an idea (if ever it was).
Sorry buddy- all those allegations about the Embassy thing are just that = allegations. And even if he did all the terrible things that you say he has, then the answer to your question is this: Americans voted for President Obama because of the candidates available the manority judged him to be the person who represented their values most and who could therefore be trusted to lead the nation through what are probably many troubled waters ahead.
To John Harrison: Obviously Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Fox News, and other similar sources have helped you form your opinion about our President so my advice to you: if you want answers to your question please ask the sources I just named.
I guess it depends on whether your beliefs include seeing reality or creating your own. We KNOW FOR A FACT from being part of the Republican system that since the 1960's their approach has always included more smoke, mirrors and games to spin opinion than substance. The USA has a real problem and now is not the time for Republicans to spin reality. These problems require real solutions not just imagined ones. As for Libya - the world is a dangerous place and the sooner Americans accept that the safer we will be.
Just how do you come off with the, "HE allowed" crap? Do you really believe the President personally oversaw security at every embassy? Did YOU blame Bush and or Cheney for starting a war on false premise, or for every atrocity or screw up in Iraq and Afghanistan? Did you hold Regan responsible for ILLEGALLY selling arms to Iran?
Pull your head out of the right wing propaganda hole, it's causing brain rot!
Oh gee, I don't know John. We were probably able to vote for Obama the same way Republicans were able to vote for Bush again after it became apparent that his intelligence had bin laden all over the radar months before 9/11. Also, after he lied to us about WMD in Iraq. Also? There were at least 7 attacks on American consulates on his watch.
2002: U.S. Consulate In Karachi, Pakistan, Attacked; 10 Killed, 51 Injured
2004: U.S. Embassy Bombed In Uzbekistan
2004: Gunmen Stormed U.S. Consulate In Saudi Arabia

John needs to stop watching Fox News. The real world is out here waiting for you John - the truth will set you free from the lies of right wing spin machines.
There were no Americans killed in those attacks. But they were attacks nonetheless that could've been prevented. How many Americans being killed would validate it for you? Huh?
Hey Bibi for West Virginia. After witnessing American politics for a very long time, what I have noticed is that majority of the voters (especially the "extreme conservatives") choose to have "short-term" memory of past events, especially with regards to what happened during the 4 years of George Bush. (1) Surplus created during the Clinton era disappeared. (2) No substantial new jobs were created except for military contracts/contractors due to the "unjustified" Iraq war. (3) Tax cut for the wealthy that never resulted to job creation. (4)Tax breaks for oil companies without an increase in crude production to drvie down gas cost. (5) De-regulation of the financial system which allow "Wall Street/Banks/Hedge Funds/Montgage Companies/..." to go un-checked resulting to the worse financial meltdown in the US history after "The Great Depression" in the 1920s. (6) Katrina.....one the worse natural disaster of our time and gues what, one of the worse responses from a Federal government headed by a George Bush. The list is so long for me to go back in time. The purpose I mentioned all these events is not to point fingers, but for us to do some soul searching and accept that Barack Obama is our president and even though what he has done so far may not have impacted you as an individual, but he has done a lot in his power considering the circumtances surrounding our politics and country. Americans have to start leaving in the present and work had to sharp the future, than wasting too much time focusing on things that would only divide us than re-uniting, destroying than fixing.
The extreme conservatives intentionally select the short-term memory because that is the only way they can hide their ugly hatred for a black president, but very visible to any intelligent and open-minded person in America, except of course David Gregory who is always asking the president some silly and stupid question about why the extreme left can't compromise with him, which he himslef knows the answer.
It's amazing that someone at the top of this post has the nerve to talk about Benghazi, when the GOP was to blame for this by cutting security funding (which a prominent congressman even admitted to). The GOP under Bush lied about Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq and did it to the United Nations no less and started a war that didn't stop the terrorists and killed thousands of people needlessly. Nor do they mention the number of attacks on embassies world wide during Reagan, Bush, Bush II etc..
It's annoying when I read some person quoting Fox News, when most of these people are UNINFORMED..
We really have some real losers in this country and it's sick we have some 24 hour so-called news stations that distort facts or refuse to say them because they are run by a political party.. We used to call that yellow journalism..
Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) was the GOP house member who admitted the house GOP members cut the funding.. Look I up yourself.. He is quoted and on video elsewhere on the internet.
Dont forget the surplus obama had when he took office and d*cked it away....opps me bad.. that was the previous administration.. funny how a little bit of time blurs realitiy and peoples perceptions.. (Those who don't study history are doomed to repeat it)
Small or no government, but police in every school, the government in every doctor/pregnant patient relationship, wall at all borders with lots more guards.
Don't worry, they are dying away like Dinarsours. Even with all their Super Pack, BIG Money NRA, and their Powerful Megaphone Media, they lost to fast growing young breeds of Americans, and Obama got reelected. The dinasours are grasping for their last straw. What will be left of them will be found in the museum of science, where we will go to entertain ourselves with the extincts.
There is truth to that - if progressives stay fact-based and don't get too reactionary. We don't want Cons to start looking like martyrs. Their educated, sophisticated young uns are more likely to be progressive, at least on social issues. Many are driving wedges between them and their children - the president did very well in red states. We have to stick to the facts, work together, and take the higher ground.
Does congress think they can hold the middle class hostage and not pay any consequences? Do they think most of us can not see through them, it is obvious that they keep defending the interest of the very wealthy no matter at what cost for the rest of us. Later on they will be scratching their heads pointing fingers and justifying their loss in power.
I'm a Canadian and watched the NBC interview on Sunday with President Obama. You guys don't always seem to recognize what a wonderful, intelligent, moral, caring and capable leader you have. He is a remarkable human being and if anyone can get you out of your difficulties it will be him. We in Canada are suffering under the tyranny (enabled by a lousy system of government we inherited from the British) of one of the worst human beings you can imagine. He makes Mitch McConnell look like Karl Marx. He's not only right wing as they come, but a devious, lying, manipulative and fully evil human being. See what I mean ?
Yes, I appreciate President Obama more and more every day Johnny Smart. Don't you let that tyrant take away your hard-won healthcare system. It's the best there is, bar none (and I run a family practice here in the States -- I KNOW what a mess this thing is. It's not a healthcare system, it's an insurance system).

How on earth could one have voted for President Obama when he allowed four Americans to die at the Libyan Embassy and then does a cover up so that he could win the election?
Cause he didnt let anyone die.
How on earth could you support the GOP after they caused a needless war in Iraq with a death toll in the TENS OF THOUSANDS?

Were where you when 4000 Americans killed in Iraq and $40B went down the drain?
At anytime, anywhere there are loopholes in our security and tragic things happen.
To make this political, make this a make or break election issue was and is simply pathetic partisan game playing.

An utterly manufactured controversy and a shining example of why Republicans can't be trusted to govern, discern or exercise common sense.
Odd when Bush was in office we were told that the President wasn't responsible for anything.
Just how do you come off with the, "HE allowed" crap? Do you really believe the President personally oversaw security at every embassy? Bibi, how many Americans were killed in those seven consulate attacks? Zero?
We funded embassies in those days.

Do not try to change wingers minds.I have tried for years and failed miserably!
You cannot easily penetrate a closed door.
Here is the list of their incurable symptoms:
1.Bushs' wars were good and we will not pay for them
2.Don't raise my taxes
3 TARP was Obama's idea(actually it occurred under Bush and bailed out banks AIG and rich investors)
4 Obama is a successful "@!$%#"
5 Billions more for defense but no tax increase but cut welfare benefits
6 Outsourcing is good for profit and the loss of income to the social security trust fund does not matter
My guess is conservatives have common virus (the greedy virus) for which there is no known cure;so perhaps we need to sterilize them
