What does it matter what Romney says about virtually anything?
He demonstrates again and again that he has no convictions he will not contradict - but for cutting taxes and increasing military spending...
Without explaining how he would pay for ANYTHING?
Oh, and re the assault weapons ban (that he used to be in favor of), he now says our gun laws are "fine" as they are to pander to the right-wingers and NRA nut jobs.
This man is not fit to be president. Who could possibly trust him?
Agreed -- Where were the hard questions? Lots of softball questions from Gregory, with very little follow-up. What happened to "holding their feet to the fire"? And the roundtable that followed was another MTP special, with two GOP partisans and Romney surrogates (Bill Bennett, Peggy Noonan), two journalists Chuck Todd of NBC and DJ Dionne, liberal analyst), and Julian Castro (Democratic mayor of San Antonio). Castro got almost no speaking time, and much of what was put to him was HIS future and HIS DAUGHTER -- hardly an Obama surrogate. Another UNBALANCED roundtable from MTP, and very disappointing.
Gov. Romney on Meet The Press, 9-9-12. Mitt answers from the heart and somewhat guarded. I think that's smart because he's in a high stakes game of political poker. Only give enough evidence and info. to control the spinmasters that have no limit on their comments...
You can't show up at a hoedown in an Armani suit and expect people to believe you understand their financial problems. As an undecided voter, Mr. Romney has not yet impressed me with his vague answers to important questions.
Mr. Romney keeps saying that he will help the middle class have more money in their pockets by cutting the taxes on capital gains and dividend income for us, I thought I was in the middle class-last year I made $44 on dividend income. WOW what will I do with all of that extra money? The bottom line is that most middle class Americans do not have much extra income from dividends or capital gains
Romney just said he wanted to lower taxes for the middle class so they don't get taxed on interest, dividends and capital gains. I don't have any of those to begin with and I am considered middle class. So if the change other things and cut these, where will I and others benefit??
Weak interview . . . Gregory is simply incapable of posing compelling, follow-up questions to guests who dip and dodge. Gregory is more concerned with how he looks than bringing any demonstrable utility to the interview process. In a word, Gregory is pathetic.
This class warfare stuff needs to be met with a heavy artillery response. It's insulting to say that because someone has money and success they're unqualified to run for office. Although it's true Romney never struggled for years in low wage jobs, struggling to find work, worrying about eviction, how he was going to eat and keep the lights on, the way that Obama did for so many yea....wait...
Republicans need to go on the offensive about Obama's privileged background and the fact that this line of attack is entirely illegitimate.
Mitt had no answer to specific, generic questions and looks like a novice who is using MTP to build his debating skills! He will be easy to upset during the debates and I would pull his chain on his taxes and how unpatriotic his offshore taxes are and watch him squirm.
This election is NOT close! RobMe is a puppet head for the .001% who play with politics like they do with casinos! Not even rebooblicans will vote for ClownHead!
There are so many issues Romney needs to clarify his position to the American people and Mr. Gregory is just asking the questions no one wants to hear. What a waste of time.
We need Chris Matthews on Meet The Press. He would at least ask some hardhitting questions. David Gregory just allowed Mitt Romney to sit there and get all his campaign points out , not once asking any difficult follow-up questions. A grade school child would have conducted a better interview. This was just 30 minutes of free advertising for the Romney campaign. I really miss Tim Russert.
Obama is a man of privilege, born into elite status just like Romney. He went to the most expensive high school in Hawaii, an ivy league feeder school. He's just one more rich kid from the ivy leagues. And that's FINE. We should not hold it against him or resent him for it. But we need to destroy this narrative that he's some prodigy from a trailer park.
Conservatives, force your friends on the left to be honest about this. Heck, your enemies too. ;-]
Is there anything more ironic than rich Democrats, many of whom were born rich and given every privilege in life just like Romney, making Romney's wealth the centerpiece of their attacks on his qualifications to be president...? If your mom and dad sent you to Choate or Columbia or Harvard, what in the world makes you think that you are "in touch" with the common man while Romney is not...? From what standpoint do you have the right to cast such stones?
David Gregory is not the one for this interview, very weak interview, not challenge for the true, Mr. Gregory this what you be announcing all week "your exclusive interview", well there are so many people out there can do a better job.
Ann Romney when asked are you and your husband out of touch with the American people. Your response was you guys may not have had financial setbacks buy you suffered from MS. What about the everyday employed or unemployed worker who not only has to figure out their bills, but they too deal with medical challenges. Please dont try to level the playing field on struggling because your experience with MS. Many people have illinesses they dont even know they have because they can not afford health care, and some who have health care that are struggling to make an eight or nine hundred premium each month on a limited income.
Saying you have had MS to level the playing field is just the beginning for some people, swap places with those that dont have health care, or struggling with choosing which bill to pay, then you can readily speak about what people are going through. You do not have a clue so remain quiet and dont remove all doubt.
If Gov. Romney admits he doesn't expect to be able to balance the budget until the end of a second term, why is his campaign all over President Obama because he hasn't turned the economy around after 3 years? As for track records, 9/11 happened onGeorge W. Bush's watch but he wasn't able to bring Bin Laden to justice in the remaining 7 years he was in office, BUT Pres. Obama's administration got the job done in 3 years, AND saved the country from another Great Depression. Yes. Mr. Romney we ARE better off than 4 years ago!
President Obama isn't who got the job done. The Our intelligence and the Seals did. Yes, TECHNICALLY he is in "charge," but had to be convinced repeatedly to actually allow us to take action. And Clinton, who I actually like, missed several real opportunities to get bin Laden BEFORE 9/11 but chose NOT TO ACT. Obama really needs to stop taking credit for something he had little to do with... but then again, this is politics.
If George Bush had gotten Bin Laden, he would have announced it on an aircraft carrier, the Republicans and their surrogates would have held it up as the greatest achievement of the 21st century, it would be an example of why Republicans are strong on defense, and it would be touted as the reason we should re-elect Bush to a second term. In fact, George Bush told the American people that he wasn't worried about Bin Laden (a way to downplay his failure) and disbanded the unit looking for him, and Romney said it didn't make sense to spend a lot of time and money looking for one man. In fact, Obama tasked the CIA to find Bin Laden as soon as he took office, he made the hard decision to go in after him in the face of advice not to, and he insisted that the plan give the Seals a way out of Pakistan. The only way he could have been more involved would be to join Seal Team 6 on the mission itself.
Totally weak interview. Tim Ressert...Oh, how I miss you. And all you folks that keep telling me that Romney is not socially conservative...he said it again...he will select Supreme Court justices who would overturn Roe V. Wade.
This was the most despicable attempt at serious conversation I have ever seen. To blow Mitt up for not explaining exactly which loopholes he'd close without any desire to (except for Bill Bennett) to point out Obama's horrifying lack of leadership and specifics was appalling. And to have Julian Castro sitting RIGHT THERE and not challenge him on a single thing was the cherry on top. Disgusting.
Why wouldn't Mr Romney address the question regarding "eliminating the mortgage interst credit" loophole? He only said this would affect the wealthy, what does he consider "wealthy"?

Would love to hear Governor Romney discuss his position on the assault weapons ban that he approved in MA and where he stands on that now.

Go Mitt!!! Now bring in the spinners to twist and attempt to derail...
Pre-approved questions, nothing about Romney's personal taxes. David, did you cut a deal for the exclusive interview?
Agreed -- Where were the hard questions? Lots of softball questions from Gregory, with very little follow-up. What happened to "holding their feet to the fire"? Did Mr Rommey say something about take 8 - 10 years for a plan to work?

Romney hasn't even been elected yet and he's already telling us he'll need 2 terms??

That's how out-of touch Romney is.
Did he mention his second term already!
Weak interview, David sold out.

Tim Russert, where are you when we really need you?
