Actress Kathleen Turner told David Gregory that today’s women’s health care debate “scares the heck” out of her and cast the women’s vote as a possible game-changer in the election:
"I think that women can be to this election what the youth was in 2008."
The actress also condemned the recent “legitimate rape” comments by Rep. Todd Akin, a congressman from her home state of Missouri, but added that she believes that Akin’s views about abortion are widespread among social conservatives across the country. Turner aims to use her voice as an actress in Washington to draw attention to efforts to defund family planning organizations like Planned Parenthood, a move which she says puts women at risk “in a way they have never been before” when it comes to health care.
The actress was in Washington because she stars in a one-woman show at Arena Stage about Molly Ivins, the late political journalist who famously took Texas politicians like George W. Bush to task in her columns. Turner, who is similarly outspoken in her rebukes of today’s politicians, says she pledges to “keep women awake” as the election progresses. No, doofus, it's the medications she takes for rheumatoid arthritis, which she has suffered from for 18 years. She has joints which need replacement (elbows) but has had both knees replaced and feet operated on 6 times and lives with severe pain. There were days when she could not walk, at all, which understandably limits working, especially 8 shows a week as she is doing now.
I saw Katheleen Turner in London's West End in a productin of The Graduate and she showed her VaJayJay in a certain scene twice a day for the run of the show.

When we look at the history of this country and what is going on politically to me doesn't add up. I believe to stengthen the economy the country should be investing further in DOD and not cutting military spending. I also believe it is not an american agenda for lawmakers to be advocating and pushing getting rid of the department of education, department of environmental protection agency, etc, such as been stated by Mitt Romney.
We see this push to convince us that the problem with the economy has to do with to much government (it's to big) and the Federal Debt is going to cause our economy to crash. We see this constantly being advocated as the main problems with the economy recovering. I think that is complete distortion of the truth, mis-leading and there are zero facts to back that up.
We see where the government (Republican Controlled House of Representatives) has refused to appropriate annual funding over the last 2 years for teachers, firemen and police officers and other union type jobs that states have needed to keep these folks employed. There has been over a million teachers, police officers and firemen alone who have lost their jobs due to this. I don't see how that helps fix anything. These people get laid off and now they can't even pay taxes but have to go on welfare, unemployment, food stamps, etc and can't contribute anything back into the system in the form of taxes.
Sure I agree that slowly reducing the size of government is necessary but it should be done slowly by "transferring the jobs" to private industry or to states when/after they have enough tax base to support those people to keep them employed. Hence the primary focus should be on JOB CREATION.
We see where this country has massive amounts of resources to utilize to create jobs and put people back to work but nothing is being done. Why, because lawmakers (Republicans in the House of Representatives) say we can't because of this Federal Debt. Yet we can go back to prior to WW II and in 1939, the Federal Debt was twice the GNP and in 1941 we rolled the equivalent of trillions more out of the Federal Reserve to pay for WWII, the building of bridges, highways, dams, levies, the electric grid (that needs replacing), etc and by 1945 the unemployment rate was at1% and nobody cared about all that money that had been rolled out of the Federal Reserve and not one cent was ever paid back to the Federal Reserve. It is a fact that if you own a car outright, then you cannot have a debt against it. If we read the constitution we find that the US Government has "Imminent Domain" over all property in this country. From that we can conclude that they have rights to ownership of all resources in this country at will. How can the US Government have a debt to that which they have power to own, control and utilize when they deem necessary. They can't. They may track the so called Federal Debt but they do not acquire debt against national domestic resources. You have debt, I have debt, corporations have debt but the US Government does not acquire debt against national resources. The US Government is distributor of currency and they have the power and right to utilize that currency at will against any and all national resources.

I personally do not agree with a lot of the republican platform, for example, I absolutely do not agree with their stance on abortion, I firmly believe in a woman's right to chose. but I also think government has no business telling insurance companies they have to cover birth control. Birth control is not a medicine, you don't need it to heal, its a personal choice. If you cant afford it and your partner cant afford it than abstain,or better yet, if that such a big part of your needs maybe you should save up or forgo something else. for the cost of a pizza, you can have birth control for 2 months, for the cost of a carton of cigs, half a year.
