Sigourney Weaver thinks it would be "amazing" if Secretary of State Hillary Clinton runs for president again in 2016. "In four years, maybe we'll be ready for her," Weaver said. "She's certainly ready for us."
Weaver sat down with David for a PRESS Pass interview to promote her upcoming mini-series Political Animals in which her character, Elaine Hammond, has striking similarities to Clinton. Hammond is a former First Lady, who ran for president, lost, and was appointed by her rival to be Secretary of State.
Weaver argues that Elaine is her own woman and says that the character was inspired by "not only the Clintons, but by a lot of the families who've been in the White House."
Speaking of inspiration, Weaver hopes her role will inspire more women to get in to politics.
"One of the reasons I wanted to do this show was to show a woman politician who is so herself and so direct and who brings the kind of female energy to politics that I've seen as a mother." She later continued, "because I do think it might actually encourage more women to run. We'd be very good. We'd certainly do as good a job if not better."
She is also not shy about her support of President Obama and her hope that he can accomplish a lot more in a second term. "I do think that if he gets four more years, it's been so frustrating for him and for a lot of his supporters that I think he'll just go for it."

Edgar and I were lucky enough to meet Sigourney Weaver's in-laws, in Honolulu. Those wonderful people drove us from the DiamondHead Theater back to our hotel in Waikiki, in the rain. The show was the 20th Century and it was directed by James McArthur. Remember to pull the Democrat lever in the election.

Why am I voting for Romney? Unfortunately, we will really only have two choices this November - I wish there were more.
On one hand a rich encumbent who has driven this country further and further into out of control debt, massive unemployment, and a nationalized health plan that will heavily tax us all and will be hardest on the quickly shrinking middle class. Add to that his vicious political ads slinging mud in Romney's direction in a desperate effort to close our eyes the real issue - his lack of ability to turn our economy around.
On the other hand a very rich Republican who has possibly participated (not yet proven) in one of the business practices that have driven up our unemployment rates - offshoring/outsourcing jobs. However, his business success record is excellent as is his record as a governor. He's not my ideal - but given the alternative he is the only reasonable choice.
By the way, your religiously prejudiced attempt at humor is one of the many reasons, as an independent, I have lost all respect for the left.

Among the many reasons I find Obama repulsive is his courting of all those Hollywood liberals. Do we really care who Cher, George Clooney, Barbra Streisand, Sigorney Weaver, etc, etc, etc, feel the peons (that would be us non-famous, non-rich, non-privileged American citizens) should be voting for? I would say "no" but I'm terribly afraid the answer is "yes" for a part of our population that reads People magazine, believes the Kardashians are role models, and loves the idea of having a black president thus proving they are hip and non-racist.

I think you have mixed up Bush (43)'s record with President Obama. He took over at one of the lowest points in our economic history and turned it around, albeit slower than you would like, but steadily growing recovery. Bush took a budget surplus and gave us 2 unfunded wars.
Actually NiteOwlett, I think you should examine economic statistics - you will find that Obama has not turned our economy around, in fact it is quite the opposite.

2. Back in 2007, about 10 percent of all unemployed Americans had been out of work for 52 weeks or longer. Today, that number is above 30%.

4. Today, 49.1% of all Americans live in a home where at least one person receives benefits from the government.
5. The amount of money that the federal government gives directly to Americans has risen 32 % since Barack Obama entered the White House.
6. The National Debt has now increased more during President Obama's first term in office than it did during 8 years of the George W. Bush presidency. The Debt rose $4.899 trillion during the two terms of the Bush presidency. It has now gone up $4.939 trillion since President Obama took office.
I was no fan of George Bush but his inadequacies as a president pale in comparison to Obama. This country is in a desperate economic situation that continues to worsen. The biggest mistake we Americans could make is giving Obama another 4 years in office. He is a nice man, yes, but a poor president lacking the experience and knowledge needed to get us headed in the right direction.
Every time I hear another Hollywood celebrity singing Obama's praises I am reminded that they are not among the unemployed, those collecting foodstamps, or those who are losing their homes to foreclosures.

Okay - how about the stimulus plan that cost the taxpayers $666 billion? It added or saved 2.1 million jobs so that was a cost of $278,000 per job. If I had been one of those who benefited from a new or saved job I would have wondered why I wasn't just cut a check for $278K.
Please tell me which of Obama's policies haven't cost taxpayer money, run up the deficit, gone against the majority opinion (healthcare plan), or further driven up unemployment for our citizens (halting of deportation of illegal immigrants).
