The focus on the economy and jobs should include discussion of sweeping tax overhaul to make U.S. more competitive in this era of globalization. Do the current candidates even have a vision? Had Mitch Daniels been running you would have asked him about his concept of replacing the current tax system with a VAT complemented by a flat income tax with a high threshold. This tax reform concept should be pursued as a means of re-invigorating and restructuring the U.S. economy for growth (including jobs). MTP could contribute the forum.
